Formal and structured inspector training is a critical part of the entire data collection process. Knowing what to look for when inspecting a bridge, how to assess defects and their treatment and consistency between inspectors are the key objectives of our training program.
Our inspectors must not only be well acquainted with all requirements of the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual, they must also be expert users of the Data Acquisition software they interact with on a daily basis.
Our inspection staff attend biennial training courses sponsored by the Ministry of Transportation. They also receive regular classroom style training updates monthly at our own training facility in Mississauga as well as on-site individual instruction.
Inspectors also review each others work on a regular basis not only for the sake of quality control but also in the interest of consistency.
